Three beach names, three starting choices

Tamarindo is the established town and surf destination in this local comparison. Start here if restaurants and activity belong close to the stay. Ask about the actual accommodation surroundings if you would also like a quiet night.

Langosta lies beyond Punta San Francisco, with rocky shoreline and the San Francisco estuary forming part of its setting. The coast is worth seeing as a landscape in its own right. The sunset photograph on this page captures that shore; it does not assess swimming conditions.

Avellanas lies farther south and is known for surf. Consider it when that beach should shape the trip. Decide how you would make the journeys for meals and other outings before treating it as an interchangeable Tamarindo address.

Give the first visit a clear purpose

  • Begin with the base: town activity or the beach you most want to return to?
  • Choose one main beach outing and confirm the conditions with an appropriate local provider.
  • Spend another part of the visit around the accommodation and its route to meals.
  • Keep an unplanned afternoon to see which setting you enjoy without an activity booked.

There is more here than open sand

Estuary and protected coastal habitat belong in the picture. Langosta forms part of Las Baulas National Marine Park. Use official information when arranging a protected-area visit, and choose any surf activity around your ability and the particular day’s conditions.

If you want to return for longer

Try the routine from two actual addresses rather than comparing three beach names in the abstract. Keep a normal workday, groceries and an evening meal in the test. Which trips felt comfortable? Which setting did you want to come back to? Those observations are a useful start for the next visit or a future home search.
